I haven't posted in a while; not because I have forgotten or am no longer writing my blog or my book. But the new school year started and if anybody out there is a teacher, you understand the amount of work that starts up for educators across the globe come August/September when the new school year begins.
This year, my assignment included teaching two classes I've never taught. In addition, I had to plan not only the lessons but I had to write the curriculum, too.
It's important to prioritize our lives to make time for the best things. Apart from my time with God, my husband, family, and church family, all my free time and energy is diverted to my teaching and my writing.
I also have had to say "no" to a few really good things. I signed up for a women's retreat in August thinking I'd have the same schedule I did last year, only to have had to humbly tell the person in charge I had to cancel. I also decided to forgo my Saturday morning women's group to make time to write.
Even though both of those things were good, if I am to complete the task I'm being called to, they are not the best for me. Maybe one day they will be the best again, but at this time I had to say "no."
People may disagree with your newfound priorities and not understand what you're doing. That's okay. You have yours and they have theirs. Hopefully, we will support each other in what God is doing in our different lives.
What is the direction God is calling you to in your life and what do you need to say "no" to heed His calling? If you are feeling pulled in too many directions it might just be time to let go of the good to make room for the best.
